The Red Cross providing an update after this morning’s fire on the west side. More than a dozen people were forced from their homes after a fire in a vacant building on Lancaster Avenue spread to other buildings. 7 adults and 5 children are now getting emergency help.
A vacant two-storey house at 587 Lancaster Avenue was levelled by the fire, which caused significant damage to an adjacent two storey building containing three apartments at 591 to 593 Lancaster Avenue and lesser damage to a duplex on the other side at 581 and 583 Lancaster.
The fire also forced precautionary evacuation of at least one person from a building around the corner on Charlotte Street West.
