150 people will be hired during the construction phase.
Finance Commissioner Kevin Fudge details the savings for the city since the original 2013 bid was submitted.
He says the contract price is 216 million compared to 257 million so about 40 million in savings in present value terms.
Andrew Evenden of Acciona is the Port City Water Partners design and build director.
He tells us they are looking for an office and the hiring process is ongoing with two people starting on Monday.
He says they have their sub-contractor teams currently working with suppliers and contractors right now.
Mayor Mel Norton says benchmarks are built in to the project where if it’s not working as promised then payments would not be made.
The City’s project coordinator Dean Price says the project includes a water treatment plant and the storage reservoir.
He says it now has 13 components butm there were more in the beginning.
Motorists will notice construction in the Hickey Road area this spring.
