With the first day of classes just on the horizon the City issuing a reminder to drivers to be cautious while driving in school zones.
The school zones on Loch Lomond Road in front of Bayview School and on Union in front of Prince Charles both have a reduced speed limits of 40-kilometres-an-hour from 7:30 in the morning until 4 in the afternoon on school days. All other school zones here have speed limits of 50-kilometres an hour during that same time frame.
If you speed in a school zone you can expect to pay double the fine. School starts on September 8.
If your child walks to school the city has a brochure on finding the safest route and tips on crossing the street. Click here to check it out.
