Legal Discussions on School Closures Resume September 14th

Mr. Justice Darrell Stephenson adjourning the court case over the closures of Lorne Middle School and Brown’s Flat Elementary until September 14th.

He appealed for calm from all including the parents involved who are pretty upset.

Kelly Lamrock represents families of students at both schools and tells us the judge stated the schools are legally open.

He told the media outside of the Saint John Law Courts building that the government made a decision that instead of respecting the court’s decision they would throw as many procedural roadblocks in the way as they can and he says they knocked one down today and they have a few more to go.

Lawyers on behalf of the province are appealing Mr. Justice Stephenson’s ruling on school closures.

That hearing before the New Brunswick Court of Appeal is on Tuesday in Fredericton.
