Biweekly Testing To Begin For Sexually Transmitted Diseases

Even though New Brunswick has a high rate of sexually transmitted diseases and blood borne infections, there are barriers to getting tested.

That’s why Aids New Brunswick and U-N-B Nursing are joining forces to provide biweekly testing in Fredericton, starting this week. The rate of infection is high among young people between 15 and 24.

Aids New Brunswick’s Executive-Director Stephen Alexander says too many people are not talking to one another about their health status before having sex and

too many people are still having unprotected sex when they should be using condoms.

The testing will take place at the Aids New Brunswick office at 65 Brunswick Street in Fredericton on a first come, first served basis. There are no plans to have such testing elsewhere in the province.
