The Saint John Mill Rats have added 6’2 shooting guard Chris Smith, a former New York Knick.
He played college basketball at Louisville where he was team captain and won the Big East Tournament in 2012, and reached the NCAA Final Four.
Smith says he’s here in Saint John to prove himself.
He says over his career, people doubted his abilities and questioned if he was worthy of being where he was, which is what brought him here to Saint John with the Mill Rats.
Smith went undrafted in 2012 before signing with the New York Knicks as a free agent, but suffered a knee injury in preseason.
He appeared in 2 NBA games with the Knicks.
There’s no doubt Smith comes from a talented basketball family, his brother J.R. Smith currently plays for the Cleveland Cavaliers.
Smith hopes to be in the Mill Rats lineup tomorrow when they host the Halifax Rainmen.
