Saint John: Crews Battle Waterloo Street Fire

Emergency crews in Uptown Saint John jumped into action after a fire broke out at a home on Waterloo Street.

Smoke could be seen flowing out of the upstairs window of the building – located directly across the street from the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception Church.

No flames were visible.

Fire crews arrived around 6:30 p.m. (Wednesday evening) and had the situation under control shortly after. At least 10 people were forced to leave the home.

Police were directing traffic away from the scene so crews could do their work.

No one was hurt and those living in the home were able to get out safely.

The cause is not known but the building is badly damaged.
