A private meeting held for some west side homeowners to talk about the erosion of Sand Cove Road which leads to the Irving Nature Park.
John Laventure says they were told the city doesn’t have any money but, at the very least, they got a chance to voice their frustrations. Lois and Mort McAllister, who live by McLaren’s Beach, say the foundation to their home is under threat while their neighbour’s home would be the first to go if the slope gives way and they can’t wait until 2017 for something to be done.
Common Councillors are being told it appears as though this area is prone to slope failures and is likely to continue in upcoming years. These slope failures jeopardize the public infrastructure in the area as well as homes.
One option the city is looking at is to find an alternate route for the road. Another optifon is construction of a breakwater.
