Man Falls Through Ice At Rockwood Park

A man has been taken to hospital for observation and treatment of hypothermia after falling through the ice at Rockwood Park.

Platoon Chief Brian Wilson of Saint John fire tells us it happened at the tail end of fisher lakes, near the barn area, and that the man was further offshore than expected.

“He was pulling an ice fishing shed, so I assume he was fishing in various areas but he obviously didn’t realize that the ice had decayed to that point,” says Wilson.

Wilson warning that the ice isn’t safe to be out on at the moment because it’s very thin and people need to stay off of it.
