It could be a sign of the slow economy but the number of people in the Saint John area who owe ever greater amounts of money is on the rise. That word coming from John Eisner of Credit Counselling in the Saint John region.
He estimates the average consumer owes around 30 thousand dollars excluding mortgage and car payments. Eisner says one thing consumers have to ask themselves is what they’ve done with any savings realised from the recent drop in the price of gasoline.
New Brunswick has the dubious distinction of having the highest delinquency rate for debt among all the provinces.
