A big turnout is expected tonight at Browns Flat Elementary School for a meeting on the sustainability of the school.
The District Education Council will be explaining what the parents should consider before a second meeting is held when they’ll have their say.
Gloria Donald of the Parent School Support Committee says the loss of the school would be devastating for a community that’s so close knit. Without a school, they’ll have nothing, according to Donald. Petitions are also being circulated to keep the school open.
The meeting starts at 7 tonight. If the school is closed, the students would be bused to Westfield Elementary.
The future sustainability of Norton Elementary School is also being looked at.
No decisions have been announced yet about the fate of Lorne School and Pennfield Elementary.
