Planning Advisory Committee Approves ‘The Crossing’ Development Pending Conditions

The Planning Advisory Committee approving the municipal plan amendment and rezoning request from Horizon Management involving the proposed development called ‘The Crossing’, located along Ashburn Road and Highway 1.

The approval was given with some conditions, which require studies to be conducted related to the impact on traffic, servicing, possible flooding issues and a market study will also have to be done within the next five years.

Horizon Management Spokesperson Joel Levesque says they are fully prepared to go ahead with the studies required by the PAC.

He says this is a project that will not go forward without all of the appropriate approvals, whether that’s through the province or proceeding with the necessary water studies.

Levesque says he was disappointed that the PAC decided to remove the residential aspect of the project, but says it could be looked at again once the project becomes closer to reality.

Committee members Andrew Miller and Anne McShane voted against the request.

Common Council will be making a final decision on the development on April 4th.
