The Saint John United Way have surpassed their fundraising goal of $1.4 million dollars for 2015.
Executive Director Wendy MacDermott says the extra money raised will go towards two programs based in Sussex.
Those programs are Sussex Dial A Ride, which is a community transportation program and a website called 211nb.ca.
The website helps answer questions related to local programs.
MacDermott calls the local support “phenomenal”, especially considering the state of the economy.
She says she met with the United Way cabinet team and thought about lowering the fundraising goal at one point.
