In the NHL, Bobby Ryan’s third-period goal off the skate of defenseman Zdeno Chara snapped a tie and lifted Ottawa to a 6-4 victory over the Bruins. The Senators moved within two points of Boston in the race for the second wild card playoff spot in the Eastern Conference and Ottawa has a game in hand…..Carey Price made 31 saves as Montreal shuts out Carolina 4-0…..San Jose beat the Leafs 4-1…..It was Florida over Detroit 3-1……Pittsburgh lost to Dallas 2-1….Winnipeg remains in playoff contention with a 2-1 shootout win over St. Louis….Elsewhere, it was Washington 3 Minnesota 2…..Calgary 4 Philadelphia 1…..Columbus 6 Vancouver 2 and Colorado 5 Arizona 2.

In the NBA, James Harden scored 50 points as Houston defeats Denver 118-108.

March Madness underway with number 1 Kentucky winning 79-56 over Hampton…..11 games were decided by fewer than 10 points with 5 of them decided by just one point. There were the usual upsets on the opening day with Iowa State and Baylor both losing.

Former Canadian champions Russ Howard of Moncton and Ray Turnbull will be inducted into the World Curling Hall of Fame next month.

At the World Women’s Curling championship, the two top teams in the competition thus far, Canada and Switzerland face eachother tonight.
