Securities Commission Warns Against Schemes Involving Marijuana Industry

The Securities Commission is warning New Brunswickers that the emerging medical marijuana industry south of the border is among the latest ruses scammers are using to take your money.

Jake van der Laan of the Commission tells CHSJ News companies fraudulently offer a chance to invest in the industry because it’s new, and easy to convince people they can make a quick buck. Other emerging schemes that scammers are trying to get people to invest in online and by phone include those involving binary options, stream-of-income investments, and digital currency.

Van der Laan says you should do your homework – contact either the Securities Commission or a certified investment advisor to research a company before you invest. For a link to their website, click here
