In the NFL, Tom Brady threw a 69 yard touchdown pass to Julian Edelman midway through the fourth quarter as New England beat the San Diego Chargers 23-14 for its eighth win in nine games. The Patriots, at 10 and 3, clinch their 12th straight 10 win season for the second-longest such streak in league history……The A-F-C North tightened up as Pittsburgh beat up on Cincinnati in the 4th quarter for a 42-21 win and Baltimore rallied from 10 points down to defeat Miami 28-13….Arizona stays ahead of Seattle in the N-F-C West with a 17-14 win over Kansas City while Seattle downs Philadelphia 24-14. In other play, it was the N-Y Giants 36 Tennessee 7…..Minnesota 30 N-Y Jets 24 (OT)……Indianapolis 25 Cleveland 24…….St. Louis 24 Washington 0……Detroit 34 Tampa Bay 17……Hoston 27 Jacksonville 13…..Carolina 41 New Orleans 10……Denver 24 Buffalo 17 and Oakland 24 San Francisco 13.

In the “Q”, Jakub Zboril scored the overtime winner with 18.7 seconds remaining as the Sea Dogs edge Val-d’Or 5-4.

In the NHL, Erik Karlsson scores in overtime to give Ottawa a 4-3 win over Vancouver……Edmonton’s 11 game winless streak comes to an end with a 2-1 win over San Jose…..Kyle Palmieri scores in overtime as Anaheim gets by Winnipeg 4-3 and Detroit wins over Carolina 3-1.

Red Sox principal owner John Henry flew to the Atlanta area for a one on one meeting with former Boston lefthander Jon Lester. It’s believed the Los Angeles Dodgers may also be interested in getting Lester along with the Cubs and Giants.

The Toronto Blue Jays are seeking a replacement for Paul Beeston, the team’s longtime president and chief executive officer. One of the candidates reportedly is Dan Duquette formerly of the Montreal Expos who’s now General Manager of the Baltimore Orioles.
