SWAT Unit Removes Man From West Side Motel

Police reporting two guests at the Hillcrest Motel on Manawagonish Road were threatened by a man with a weapon who also caused significant damage to his room.

He had barricaded himself in his room after the threats were made but was eventually removed a few hours later by the police department’s Emergency Tactical Services Unit.

He was then taken to the Regional Hospital for an assessment. When a court appearance does take place, he’ll be facing a weapons charge along with making threats.

In another incident, a man told he and his two children were sitting in their vehicle in the rear parking lot at McAllister Place near Lawton’s when they were sprayed with what is thought to be bear spray.

Police tell us the person who did the spraying then drove off.

Before that occurred, two women had an altercation nearby and the two incidents are believed to be connected. Police also say everyone involved are acquainted with one another.
