We Are Passengers, representing blind bus passengers who use city buses, wants to go straight to a human rights tribunal in its dispute with the Transit Commission, now that the deadline for a compromise has passed.
The dispute is over the decision not to allow the visually impaired to ride the buses for free.
Pat McCaffrey of We Are Passengers questions whether the Transit Commission wanted to reach a deal. He claims they were close and then the Transit Commission cancelled a meeting that would have finalised an agreement at the last moment.
The Human Rights Commission suggested going to mediation but McCaffrey says We Are Passengers rejected that, saying the negotiations would just drag on too long.
