Newly-Launched Development Grants Aim To Spark Growth In City’s Central Peninsula

There are new grants available for development in the city’s central peninsula through a just-launched pilot project.

There are three incentive programs: the vacant building redevelopment program, the infill development program and the upper floors redevelopment programs which all feature a main grant and two complementary grants.

City planner Jeff Cyr says the larger the investment the bigger the grant and the harder the project the bigger the grant.

“The program will pay betwen five and 10-percent of your project’s construction cost depending on how challenging the project is up to a maximum of $182,500,” says Cyr, who adds that after a formal grant agreement applicants will have two months to start construction so they will be encouraging applications for shovel-ready projects.

There is also a newly-rolled out beautification program grant that pays 35-percent of eligible work.

You can find more information about these programs on the city’s website.
