Hackers Are Being Rewarded Financially

Technology companies including Google, Facebook, Dropbox, Microsoft, Yahoo, PayPal and even the electric car maker Tesla now offer hackers bug bounties for reporting the security flaws they find.

David Drury is General Manager of Global Technology Services at IBM Canada and he says cyber security has become huge.

In 2014, Facebook paid $1.3 million to hackers for their security service. Uber is the latest company to open its first ever bug bounty program, offering up to 10 thousand dollars to find security flaws in its system.

Drury says as the world becomes more digitized, I-T is becoming more of a service to make the online experience better.
