A Moncton Man Accidentally Included In World Wide Facebook Safety Check For Pakistan Bombing

A Moncton man was one of many around the world who mistakenly got a Facebook Safety Check message after a bombing half a world away.

Facebook issued the Safety Check in response to yesterday’s bombing in a public park in Pakistan.

Anthony Doiron says “I was surprised, but I immediately put the pieces together. In a way, more people were made aware of that tragedy because of it. The Facebook notification was much quicker to report the explosion than a lot of news sources were.”

According to a statement from Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg the Safety Check system is designed to allow people in the affected area to let their friends and loved ones know they are safe.
