The Kennebecasis Regional police is launching a pilot program where members of the Kennebecasis Valley communities can go out and chat with an officer over coffee.
The program is, aptly, called Coffee With a Cop and Cst. Corey McAllister is in charge of it. He tells us he was inspired by the Brewer police department in Maine which had launched this program which is a national program in the U.S.
“So, I figured if it could work three hours away why can’t it work here,” says Cst. McAllister, “so another way of engaging the community with the police force to build stronger relationships.”
There are four events happening in April each on Friday from 10am to 11:15am. The first is happening on April 1 at Java Moose, the second the week later at the KV Superstore upstairs, again on April 15 at Second Cup and finally at the Sobey’s cafe on April 22.
“We’ll be in our uniform and we’ll be sipping away on a coffee so come on over, chat us up, and talk about whatever you want to talk about,” says Cst. McAllister.
