Moncton Medical Marijuana Producer Gets Provincial Funding

A Moncton-based medical marijuana producer has received a financial boost from the Gallant government in the form of payroll rebates.

Organi-gram in the Moncton Industrial Park will receive $990,000 over three years to create 113 new jobs.

Premier Brian Gallant says he’s confident in the future growth of the company.

“This is a facility that has done a great job. As you know, Health Canada ensures that the industry is very well regulated and I commend them for the hard work they are doing to continue to meet the high standards of Health Canada,” says Gallant.

Organi-gram currently employs 43 people at its Moncton plant.

While the medical marijuana industry is expanding, company officials see strong growth in the recreational marketplace as the federal government moves toward the legalization of the drug.
