33 people got on the Romero House Mobile Unit on Monday night looking for a warm place to hang out and a snack.
The Unit operates Monday to Friday starting on Adelaide Street in the North End making stop on Charlotte and Waterloo before ending around 9:45pm at King Square.
Phyllis Beckingham tells CHSJ News they offer them hot chocolate, coffee, tea, sandwiches and sweets.
She says they socialize with them adding they often know them already but sometimes they don’t.
Beckingham adds some of the folks that get on that are living on the street and some of that are living in poor housing conditions or have health issues.
They also hand out sleeping bags, winters boots and coats and have a real need right now for extra large gloves for men.
If you want to drop off donations, you can do so between 7am and 4pm at 647-649 Brunswick Drive.
To speak to someone in advance, call 642-7447.
