MLA Says Private Sector Will Have Increased Demand For Workers Amid DOT Privatization

With areas of the Department of Transportation being privatized, jobs will be impacted, but there will still be work available in the area.

That word from Charlotte-Campobello MLA John Ames, who says there will be a demand for this type of work, it will just be a shift.

“We are going to have quite a bit of work coming down the pipe, throughout the whole province, but this side of the province particularly. The private sector is going to have an increased demand if they’re going to be implementing this kind of work.”

About 187 casual positions will be affected province-wide with the realignment over the next two years.

Ames says the Department of Post Secondary Education,Training and Labour will be working with the affected employees with job placements, training, EI enhancements, or by connecting any opportunities that arise.
