In the NHL, Detroit shut out Philadelphia 3-0…..The Red Wings lead Boston by two points while Philadelphia is tied with the Bruins for the last playoff spot in the East…..Toronto lost to Columbus 5-1 and Edmonton downed Vancouver 6-2.

The Sea Dogs open their second round series against Cape Breton tonight at Harbour Station with a 7:00 start.

In the Majors, the Blue Jays blew a 3-0 lead and lost to Tampa Bay 5-3 to split the four game series….Mike Napoli had the winning homer against his former teammates as Cleveland got by the Red Sox 7-6…..Starlin Castro homered and drove in five runs while Mark Teixeira had four RBI’s as the Yankees trounced Houston 16-6…..The Los Angeles Dodgers became the first team since 1963 to start the season with three straight shutouts, winning 7-0 over San Diego. Robinson Cano hit his 4th homer of the season in Seattle’s 9-5 win over Texas. In other play, it was Milwaukee 4 San Francisco 3…..Colorado 4 Arizona 3….Detroit 7 Miami 3….Cincinnati 3 Philadelphia 2….Baltimore 4 Minnesota 2…..Pittsburgh 5 St. Louis 1….Washington 3 Atlanta 1 and Oakland 2 Chicago White Sox 1.
