As part of the election platform released by the Liberal candidate in Saint John-Rothesay, Wayne Long is a proposal to generate more tourism by making more of the history of the city.
This would include an actual fort being built at Fort LaTour along Harbour Passage, an interpretative centre at Fort Howe, construction of a landing wharf at Partridge Island and Martello Tower to be fixed up.
Long says this could be paid for through the increased infrastructure funding the Liberals are promising.
The Conservative candidate Rodney Weston wants to see infrastructure money spent on affordable housing, the Exhibition Park Fieldhouse with its proposed dual ice surfaces, wastewater improvements in Rothesay and retrofitting the Ward Chipman Library on the campus of U-N-B Saint John.
