A fixture on City Road for many years has closed.
The Colonial Inn is closed with signs up warning trespassers to stear clear and plywood covering several windows.

Local historian Harold Wright tells CHSJ News that location was home to Saint John’s first rink–the Victoria Skating Rink and later Gurd’s bottling plant.

In recent years, Wright says the Colonial Inn was showing its age adding the owners didn’t do anything to modernize it but he would like to see it re-open.
He says it already has a lot of good resources so if someone can put some money into it could add to Saint John’s economy.
Our newsroom reached out Lawson Property Management who are looking after the property and we’ve been told John Lawson is not in the office until Wednesday.
Despite the doors being closed, you can still find the Colonial Inn on travel booking websites, click here
