A Financial Windfall For Saint John Organisation Helping Women With Addictions

The 100 Women Who Care voting to give the Sophia Recovery Centre for Women on Hazen Street more than 23 thousand dollars.

Executive-Director Stacy Doyle says the money will be used to expand their community outreach so more women who have addictions realise there’s help available if they want it.

Doyle says the women who come for help will not be judged because they will be greeted by other women who have overcome addictions themselves.

Doyle says last year, 212 women came to the centre with over 29 hundred visits and the women seeking help are of all ages.

She adds the women who come for help mostly are addicted to alcohol and drugs but there are others with food and gambling addictions
