A New Chief Of Police For Saint John

A new Chief of Police has been named by the Saint John Police Commission after a search lasting more than a year.

Current Stratford, Ontario Police Chief John Bates accepting the position and will start in November.

Police Commission Chair Nicole Paquet tells CHSJ news that Chief Bates was very excited to have received the job offer.

Bates spent nearly three decades with the Stratford Police Force and was named Chief there in 2012.

Last year, Governor General David Johnston appointed Chief Bates as a Member of the Order of Merit of the Police Forces.
