When William Marshall, a customer at Sobeys East Point store, won the $25,000 top prize in the company’s 110th Anniversary Giveaway promotion, the store was given an additional $5,000 by Sobeys head office to donate to a local charity or community group.
The management and staff at the East Point supermarket overwhelming chose Hestia House, the local shelter for abused women and their children.
The Sobeys 110th Anniversary Giveaway ran throughout Atlantic Canada in September and October. Hestia House and Mr. Marshall were presented with their cheques Monday.
