Acadie-Bathurst Titan moving to St. John’s: report

It appears that a Quebec Maritimes Junior Hockey League team will be on the move next season.

The Acadie-Bathurst Titan have reportedly been sold to a group of business leaders in St. John’s, Nfld.

French-language sports network RDS is reporting the deal is believed to be worth around $5.5 million.

St. John’s previously had a QMJHL team in the mid-2000s but it left the city after three seasons.

Officials with the league have yet to make an announcement about the move or confirm any details.

According to RDS, the 12 Quebec-based teams would travel to St. John’s once every two years to play two games.

The five teams in the Maritimes would travel to the island two times per season to play doubleheaders.

It is expected that the Newfoundland team will hit the road eight to 10 times per season.
