After 10 years without a new carrier, Porter Airlines is now flying out of Saint John and the folks who run the airport are pretty happy about it.

CEO Derrick Stanford tells us this offers value and variety for their customers.
He describes the Saint John Airport as one of those very underexploited businesses and he says they did a ton of research and analysis as part of the sales process in bringing Porter Airlines to Saint John.
He says they did this to illustrate the true market that Saint John offers.
He says 50 per cent of Saint John air travellers do not use the local airport opting instead for Bangor, Fredericton, Halifax and Moncton but he believes adding Porter Airlines means other carriers will come calling.
