Affordability, Lifestyle and Weather Main Reasons Behind Record Home Sales In NB

June was a great month for New Brunswick after a record number of homes were sold.

President of the New Brunswick Real Estate Association Robert Stewart says a lot of people are coming home to be closer to their family.

He says people are also moving here for the summer from places like Toronto and Montreal to beat the high humidity levels.

Stewart attributes the affordabliity of homes and the lifestyle in the Maritimes behind the record breaking month in June.

Home sales were up in Moncton by 17-percent, almost 13 percent in Saint John and just under 5-percent in Fredericton.

The average home sold for roughly $177,000, which is an increase of five percent compared to last year.

Stewart says people complain that there are no jobs in New Brunswick, but says there are a lot of jobs out there if people are willing to change the style of work they want to do.
