The air ambulance service on Grand Manan is resuming operations just days after the company lost its president Klaus Sonnenburg in a fatal crash near the airport.
Atlantic Charters, which is contracted by Ambulance New Brunswick, letting ANB know they are ready to resume service to benefit the residents of Grand Manan. Interim President of ANB Paul Ward says they were working with the provincial Department of Health to provide alternative transportation but says they support the decision.
Sonnenburg and paramedic William Mallock died in the crash as the plane made its second attempt to land while two people on board survived.
One of the survivors, a registered nurse, has been released from the Regional Hospital while the other, a pilot, is in stable condition.
There’s nothing obvious to indicate why the plane crashed after returning from the mainland.
