Air Quality Statement Issued For N.B.

Smoke from forest fires in western Canada has prompted a special air quality statement for New Brunswick.

Environment Canada says the smoke is expected to spread over the province on Monday night.

“While most of the smoke will remain aloft, some may descend to near ground level causing reduced air quality,” said the statement.

“Associated haze will likely give the sun a reddish appearance.”

The smoke is expected to continue throughout the day Tuesday and possibly into Tuesday night, said the statement.

A similar air quality statement was issued for the province last week.
