Air Show Atlantic To Fly From Miramichi This Year

It’s one of the largest air shows in Canada and it is being held right here in New Brunswick..

The Air Show Atlantic for 2016 will be held in Miramichi this weekend.

Executive Director Colin Stephenson says this show draws spectators from all over, “A lot of fans will be coming over from PEI, and Nova Scotia. I got a call from someone coming from Newfoundland, and they also come from Maine and Ontario as well. We are prepared for about 12, 000 fans fans . We had about 10, 000 in years past and we didn’t have the Snowbirds.”

This year’s show will be in the sky and on the ground. The flying display will be about 3 hours long, but the air field itself is open for 7 hours, because there are a lot of static aircraft on the ground, with army displays and even a market.

One of the highlights is celebrating the 75th anniversary of the British Commonwealth air training plan, “It’s a theme for the RCAF this year. They have painted up their demonstration hornet plane in the colours of the British Commonwealth. That is definitely one people will be talking about after the show,” Stephenson adds.
