Jocelyn Fisher and her family were without power for almost five days, and they had to get creative living without electricity.
She says when charging charging electronics, they did it as a family, “Whenever we wanted to charged devices, we would all go into the truck. My husband and I would charge in the front and the boys would charge in the back. We also used a single burner propane stove to boil water as we needed it.”
Fisher says the storm itself will be one to remember. Last Tuesday night, there were a lot of loud thuds on the side of the house and on the roof, but because it was so dark, they were unsure of exactly what was happening to their home.”
They were concerned about what their roof and the outside of the home might look like when they emerged in the morning.
Fisher says they lost a big tree, and a lot of branches off of others, but they were thankful the house was fine otherwise.
This isn’t the first ice storm Fisher has lost power for an extended length of time. She says they also endured four days without during the last big ice storm in New Brunswick.
The family restocked their refrigerator over the weekend. Fisher says, last Friday night, “I sat in our kitchen at 10:30pm wearing a head lamp. Our fridge and freezer have never been cleaner. We had to throw out everything.”
