Alward Says Province Taking Steps To Address SJ’s High Poverty Rates

While the premier says Saint John’s high poverty rates needs to change, he insists the province is taking steps to fix it.

He says the government has worked very hard on the first phase of poverty reduction strategy with many significant improvements to support famillies.

David Alward points to the new Y going up in Crescent Valley. He says over the last while the new Y is going up in a vulnerable neighbourhood and he calls that a sign of their committment. Alward says the Federal government is working with the province to help parents get affordable childcare.

The Premier is spending the day campaigning in the region with stops in Rothesay, Quispamsis, the City market and on the West side.
