For the next year, advanced care paramedics will be on the streets in Saint John, Moncton, and Bathurst.
It’s all part of a pilot project and Manager of Training for Ambulance New Brunswick Eric Bearisto says a variety of patients will benefit from the advanced care capabilities.
Patients who have airway management problems, chest pain, seizures and major trauma will all benefit from having advanced care paramedics on the streets.
ACP’s drive a rapid response unit and are able to treat critically ill patients immediately, and at a higher level until the ambulance arrives.
The vehicle is not meant for transportation, but for getting to the scene quicker and more efficiently.
