Another Common Councillor Questions Next Year’s Increase In Water Rate

Both Common Councillors Greg Norton and Gary Sullivan believe water rates in the city are too high. Whether a majority of councillors feel the same way remains to be seen.

Sullivan doesn’t think the cost of water for flat rate users in the city should go up next year by $72. He says if you crunch the numbers, the increase should onlyh amount to 12 dollars.

Sullivan worries the city’s tax rate combined with the yearly water rate might be a deterrent to people moving into Saint John proper even though he argues the quality of life is second to none.
