Arsenault Calls The Picadilly Mine Job Losses A Tough Blow

It’s a tough blow for the province and the Sussex area.

That is how Energy and Mines Minister Donald Arsenault describes news of job losses at the PotashCorp’s Picadilly mine.

He says they met with Marc Fraccia last night where he shared the news.

Arsenault says they have deployed a team from Post-Secondary Education Training and Labour to Sussex to help out the impacted workers.

He says the PETL staff can provide assistance to anyone who needs help in terms of looking at their own situation or if they need training.

He says they will also reach out to the contracters affected by this.

Arsenault calls it a tough one recalling being on hand in 2007 for the sod-turning for this 2.2 billion dollar project when he was Natural Resources Minister.
