Bay Of Fundy Under Threat From Climate Change

The ecosystem of the Bay of Fundy is under threat from climate change according to Fundy Baykeeper Matt Abbot of the Conservation Council which is why he applauds the intent of the Trudeau Government to increase protected marine and coastal areas from 1.3 per cent to 5 per cent by 2017 and up to 10 per cent by 2020.

There’s one marine protected area in the province at the moment which is the Musquash Estuary. Abbot says there are portions of Musquash where you can’t use motorised boats.

Abbot refers to the Quoddy region of Charlotte County as a marine oasis.
