Be Sure To Register To Vote

There is still time to register for the September 20 vote.

Most of the 27-million eligible voters are already registered.

Elections Canada spokesperson Rejean Grenier says it came as the result of various government forms you signed previously, including your income tax return.

“You will notice on the top right-hand corner of your income tax form that it says, do you allow us to share your address and name with Elections Canada? If you check that, it automatically comes to us,” says Grenier.

You can check to see if you’re registered.

Grenier says going to their website allows you to do so.

“It’s always good to verify whether you’re on it, particularly if you’ve moved or your situation has changed in the last six months or something like that, then it’s always good to check it out.”

Once registered, you can vote anytime by next Tuesday by special ballot at the local returning office or during advanced polls coming up this weekend.
