Bedtime Routine Important For Back To School

Most students will return to class on Sept. 3, the day after Labour Day.

Pamela Wilson, director of schools for the Anglophone East School District, says if your kids have been staying up later than usual all summer, it is time to get them back on track.

“Back to the bedtime routine needed to get up in the morning and feel rested for their return to school. Having an established and earlier bedtime routine leading up to that week, starting anytime now, will really help them,” Wilson says.

She says sleep is especially important for the younger ones who are starting kindergarten. They will benefit from feeling rested and it will help get them through their day.

“Parents can also help by talking to their children and finding out any concerns and by reassuring their children by having a positive outlook about school. Any major concerns beyond that normal stress should be shared with the school so that parents can work closely with them to get their child set up,” Wilson says.
