We heard from several listeners about a boom the other night followed by a flare at a gas well in Penobquis.
Corridor Resources manager of operations in Penobquis Doug Bailey tells CHSJ News it wasn’t an explosion, as such: when they started to feed fuel into the unit at the gas well it made a boom when it ignited. He says it’s something that happens sometimes, but typically it’s not at night when it would wake people up.
Bailey says they’ve made an effort to go around and talk to everyone in the neighbourhood and explain what happened, and that it won’t typically happen that late again.
Bialey adds there was no risk to either employees or residents at any time.
