The City’s Commissioner of Transportation and Environment Services and Saint John Water is hanging up his hat.
Bill Edwards, who has had a 30-year career with the City, announcing that he will be retiring effective March 3 of this year. Edwards started working with the City in 1986 as Operations Engineer. He is credited with securing funding for the Safe, Clean Drinking Water project, leading the Peel Plaza project to fruition and implementing the muncipal Energy Efficient Program.
In 2013 he received a nod from Her Royal Highness, receiving the Queen’s Diamond Jubile Medal for his work for the Canadian Federation of Municipalities.
Mayor Mel Norton says “[Bill Edward’s] contributions are significant. In particular, his work on the Safe, Clean Drinking Water project will leave a legacy for generations here in Saint John.”
