Body Recovered From Vehicle Driven Off Gondola Point Ferry

The New Brunswick RCMP has recovered a body after a vehicle drove off a ferry into the Kennebecasis River on Saturday.

RCMP Staff Sgt. Jeff Johnston says the Hampton RCMP received a report shortly after 9 p.m. that a vehicle had driven off a non-operational ferry on the Kingston Peninsula side of the Gondola Point Ferry Terminal.

Hampton RCMP and first responders immediately began search efforts.

On Sunday, the RCMP Underwater Recovery Team joined the search. Johnston says shortly after 3 p.m. Sunday, the RCMP located a body in the submerged vehicle.

The identity of the individual remains undetermined, as does the cause of the incident.
