Boil water advisory in Blacks Harbour, Beaver Harbour

A boil water advisory has been issued for municipal water users in Blacks Harbour and Beaver Harbour.

The advisory follows a water line break between the water source and the reservoir that happened earlier this week.

All water being consumed should be brought to a rolling boil for at least one minute until further notice.

That includes water used for brushing teeth, making ice, juice, coffee or tea, and washing vegetables that will not be cooked.

This is especially important for people with compromised immune systems, such as the elderly, infants, and people with a transplanted organ or on dialysis.

It is safe to take showers, bathe and use swimming pools, as long as you avoid swallowing the water.

Two consecutive acceptable sets of results, no less than 24 hours apart, must be received before the advisory can be lifted.

The boil water advisory does not apply to residents who have their own wells.

More tips on what to do during and after a boil water advisory can be found on the Municipality of Eastern Charlotte’s website.
