Border Officials Seize Gun And Other Goods At Campobello POE

It could be an expensive trip if you think you can outsmart border officials.

On Tuesday, July 11th, Robert Edward De Vico of New Hampshire attempted to cross the border into Canada at the Campobello port of entry, but he was referred to a secondary examination.

Officers seized a number of undeclared items that were found in a recreational vehicle: a prohibited .38 caliber revolver, a large amount of undeclared US currency, two grams of suspected marijuana, and 7.25 liters of alcohol.

De Vico was arrested, and on Thursday, July 13th, plead guilty to charges of making false statements and failing to declare imported goods under the Customs Act.

He was fined $2000 in Saint John Provincial Court.
